Good morning and HapPy Friday 13th 👻 ☀️ 

Some folks call Friday the 13th “unlucky,” but honestly, I did a little digging and… there’s really nothing spooky to report! In fact, it’s quite the opposite, did you know Prince Charles made his first speech in the House of Lords on this day in 1974 (the first royal to do so in 90 years)? Or that Princess Elizabeth (before she became Queen!) laid the foundation stone for the Royal National Theatre on a Friday the 13th? Turns out, this date has a pretty cool track record!

With the sunshine out in full force and temperatures possibly reaching 28°C today, make sure to stay hydrated and catch some shade when you can. It looks like the sun will be sticking around all weekend, and I’ve rounded up the best local events for you to enjoy, so if you’re still looking for plans, there’s something here for everyone.

IMPUTE

Today’s Word of the Day is IMPUTE means to attribute or assign (something, especially a fault or undesirable quality) to someone or something. Essentially, if you impute something to someone, you are saying that person is responsible for it or that it is caused by them.

Usage:

• Usually, it’s used in formal, academic, or legal contexts.

• The thing imputed is often negative (like blame, fault, or motive), but it can be neutral or even positive.

• It’s often followed by “to.”

  🔹 Examples in use:

  1. The manager imputed the team's failure to a lack of preparation.
     (She said the failure was caused by not being prepared.)

  2. It is unfair to impute bad motives to someone based on a misunderstanding.
     (It’s unfair to say someone had bad intentions without good reason.)

  3. In economics, you might impute a value to something that doesn’t have a clear price, like a public park.

  Synonyms: attribute, ascribe, credit, assign.

  Quick tip:
  If you see “impute,” think: “Who is being blamed or credited for this?”
