Broxbourne MP Presses Government on Support for Local Entrepreneurs

Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking has called on the government to outline its plans for empowering entrepreneurs and small business owners in the borough, emphasising their crucial role in driving economic growth and job creation.

Speaking at Westminster, Mr Cocking pressed a government minister to explain what measures are being taken to turn innovative ideas into thriving businesses. He highlighted that for the economy to flourish, entrepreneurs must be encouraged to take risks, with the right support in place to help them succeed.

“To achieve a growing economy and create new jobs, the government must support those willing to take the leap into entrepreneurship,” he stated.

The Minister’s response, outlining the government’s initiatives in this area, can be watched in full via the linked video.

This intervention reflects a broader push to bolster business innovation and local investment, ensuring that Broxbourne’s entrepreneurs have the backing they need to thrive.

Push for Local Banking Hub Gains Momentum in Broxbourne

Local leaders are stepping up efforts to restore essential banking services for residents and businesses in Broxbourne. Labour Councillor Sean Waters has urged the government to support the establishment of a local Banking Hub, reinforcing calls previously made by MP Lewis Cocking for a dedicated Banking Hub.

In a letter published on social but addressed to Emma Reynolds, the Economic Secretary to the Treasurer, Cllr Waters highlighted the importance of accessible banking, particularly for elderly and vulnerable residents and communities reliant on cash transactions. He pledged to continue working tirelessly to ensure that local banking services are reinstated in Broxbourne, providing much-needed support for individuals and businesses alike.

The push for a Banking Hub reflects a wider concern over the impact of bank closures on communities, and local leaders remain committed to securing a solution. Residents are hopeful that these efforts will result in better financial accessibility for all.

Tottenham’s Youngsters Shine in Europa League Victory

Tottenham Hotspur 3 | 0 Elfborg

After a frustrating hour against Swedish side Elfsborg, Tottenham finally found their breakthrough, securing a 3-0 win and a place in the Europa League last 16.

Despite struggling for form and suffering another injury blow with Radu Dragusin, Spurs turned the game around through their young talents. 20-year-old Dane Scarlett opened the scoring, followed by 19-year-old Damola Ajayi, who netted just minutes into his debut.

The highlight of the night came from 17-year-old Mikey Moore, whose brilliant finish not only sealed the win but also made him the youngest English player to score in major European competition, breaking Jimmy Greaves' recordfrom 1957.

With Spurs' academy talents making a strong impression, former striker Peter Crouch summed it up: "Just play the kids, we don’t need to buy anyone."
