Unfortunately, today’s update comes with mixed news. The much-anticipated Sunset Waltham Cross Studios project has been halted, though we remain hopeful for future developments on the site. Sunset Waltham Cross Studios Scrapped—A Dream That Never Rose

What was once a game-changer for Broxbourne Borough and Cheshunt is now officially dead. The Sunset Waltham Cross Studios project, once hailed as a major film and TV hub, has been halted due to global market challenges.

Locals once dreamed of the borough’s transformation, fueled by striking concept images on boarded-up site walls. But after COVID delays and market uncertainties that delayed work on the site, the rumours swelled that no more work was happening. Residents hoped but the latest council update on the project delivers the final blow—there will be no Sunset Studios. Meanwhile, Google’s data centre, announced later, is nearly finished, raising questions about why one project thrived while the other failed.

Rising costs, economic instability, and shifts in production trends hit the UK’s film sector hard, and this project didn’t survive. Though the 91-acre site remains an employment zone, the council still thinks it will once again deliver the promises for jobs but maybe not now. As the local government reforms draws closer, Broxbourne Borough may no longer play a role in what happens there next.

It’s a huge loss—who knows, the next James Bond film could have been shot here. While Broxbourne Council works with site owners on alternatives, for now, the Sunset dream has set before it could shine.

Kidz Klub Earns Top Ofsted Rating for Outstanding Holiday Childcare in Broxbourne

Captured in a metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia primary school, was this grouping of four schoolboys, who were gathered at a brown paper-covered table, studying a stylized cartoon book to be used as reference material, for a drawing they were asked to create in the classroom. Each student was supplied with a piece of white drawing paper, a pencil, and a white tray of crayons, which was set atop the table on the left. It is important to know that these objects are known as fomites, and can act as transmitters of illnesses.

Kidz Klub, Broxbourne Borough Council’s holiday playscheme, has received Ofsted’s highest "MET" rating following an inspection on 19 February 2025. The scheme was praised for its dedicated staff, high-quality care, and strong safeguarding practices, meeting all regulatory standards for Out of School Clubs.

Running during the Easter holidays (7–17 April 2025) at the John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon, Kidz Klub operates daily from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Costs are £27.35 per child, with sibling discounts and childcare vouchers accepted.

For bookings, contact 01992 445375 or email [email protected]. More details are available on the Broxbourne Council website.

This achievement highlights Kidz Klub’s commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and high-quality environment for children during school breaks.

FROM THE COUNTY COUNCIL

Residents to Benefit from Hertfordshire's £100 Million Highways Investment

Close Up Asphalt Highway Yellow Lines Into Remote Wilderness

Hertfordshire County Council has greenlit a £100 million budget for the 2025/26 Integrated Works Programme (IWP), a sweeping initiative to upgrade the county’s highways infrastructure. The plan includes over 1,100 projects focused on improving roads, pavements, bridges, and traffic signals, with a strong emphasis on safety, reducing congestion, and supporting sustainable travel options like walking and cycling.

The IWP’s coordinated approach ensures efficient project delivery while minimizing disruption to residents. By combining multiple schemes, the council aims to maximize resources and deliver long-term benefits across the county.

For Broxtown, this investment promises significant local infrastructure improvements, paving the way for safer, smoother, and more sustainable travel for the community.

Hertfordshire County Council Voices Concerns Over Stansted Airport Expansion Plans

Waiting

Hertfordshire County Council has voiced concerns over Stansted Airport’s masterplan to increase passenger capacity from 43 million to 51 million annually. While acknowledging potential economic benefits, the council warns that expansion must not harm local communities or the environment. Key issues include noise, air quality, and transport congestion.

The council calls for detailed mitigation plans and delays the Sustainable Development Plan until these are addressed. Councillor Stephen Boulton emphasized that growth must be sustainable and benefit local residents, including those in Hertfordshire.

A formal planning application is expected later in 2025.
