Single Bus Fare Cap Rises to £3, Affecting Local Commutes - Waltham Cross to Cuffley, Wormley, and Hoddesdon

The upcoming Budget will see the single bus fare cap across most of England increase from £2 to £3, affecting many local commuters e.g. travellers from Waltham Cross to destinations like Cuffley, Wormley, and Hoddesdon. Originally introduced to keep fares affordable, the £2 cap was due to end in December, but the new £3 limit, which will extend through to the end of 2025, aims to provide some stability in costs for commuters.

For Broxbourne residents, this means that trips from Waltham Cross to nearby areas like Hoddesdon will still be somewhat affordable, though an increase may strain regular riders who depend on buses for daily travel. The Confederation of Passenger Transport has expressed concerns that while the cap prevents a steep fare increase, the new rate could still be challenging for those who rely on buses as their main means of affordable travel.

Cheshunt kicked off the Halloween season in style on Saturday with the launch of its Halloween Trail, thanks to the creative touch of LMA Studios. The town center turned into a mini West End as LMA dancers performed spooky routines right in the shop windows of local favorites like Dobsons and The Bed Gallery, captivating passersby and getting everyone into the Halloween spirit. Costumed kids in ghostly and ghoulish attire joined in on the fun, putting on a Halloween display that had the entire town buzzing.

For families looking to join the trail, trail forms are available at Dobsons, The Bed Gallery, LMA Studios, and Ray Lowe Studios—or you can print one from home. The goal? Spot witches, goblins, and other Halloween characters hiding in shop windows throughout Cheshunt, complete the hidden word, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win tickets to The Hertfordshire Zoo!

With such a thrilling start, Cheshunt is well on its way to celebrating a Halloween filled with fun, frights, and fantastic community spirit.

St. James Church Hosts Family Light Party: A Bright Alternative to Halloween Fun

The popular Light Party is returning to St. James Church on Sunday, 3rd November, offering a family-friendly alternative to the usual Halloween activities. Families with children aged 3-11(ish!) are invited to enjoy an evening of crafts, games, a light trail in the churchyard, and hotdogs.

The event celebrates Jesus as the Light of the World, encouraging attendees to dress in bright, sparkly, and fun outfits.

Tickets are free, and the church is looking forward to welcoming the community for this joyful evening.
