Tesco or Treasure Hunt? Cheshunt Shoppers Navigate Aisle Mayhem

It’s no surprise that Tesco customers in Cheshunt are feeling bewildered as the store undergoes a massive refurbishment. With products mysteriously relocating to new aisles each day, many shoppers have turned to social media to vent their frustrations.

One shopper lamented, “It’s like a game of musical chairs 🙄… A 15-minute shop now takes me an hour!” Another quipped, “I left with an avocado, some tea towels, and Halloween chocolates… I’m going to starve tonight.”

The chaos has even led to bread fans finding bagels and pittas away from the bread section! As one customer joked, “Why are bagels and pittas not in the bread section? 🤣 Spent an extra hour faffing about!”

However, some shoppers remain optimistic, noting that Tesco’s efforts are meant to enhance the shopping experience long-term. “They do a lot of good work which never gets reported… I’m sure the store will be amazing once finished,”shared a more understanding customer.

For now, we’re still waiting on a comment from the store manager. We know they mean well, but here’s hoping we won’t need a treasure map to find the essentials!

Heartwarming Act: Hoddesdon's Good Samaritan Sets an Example

It’s often said that the people in Hoddesdon are some of the kindest in Hertfordshire, and a recent incident at a local shop proves it. A Good Samaritan found a purse left in a shopping trolley and handed it over to store staff, showing genuine honesty and care. While we don’t have details about the contents or if it’s been reunited with its owner, it’s a reminder of the community spirit in Hoddesdon. If you know more about the story, please share with Broxtown for a follow-up!

Final Countdown: Council Tax and Benefits Portal Upgrade Nears Completion

The long-awaited upgrade of the Council Tax and Benefits portal is almost over! According to the council’s website, this is the final week of the upgrade process, with the portal set to go live again on the 7th. While residents have had to endure the temporary inconvenience of losing self-service options, it’s likely that the team is currently performing final testing to ensure everything runs smoothly. The community is eagerly anticipating the enhanced system—stay tuned for a more streamlined experience soon!

Weekend Frenzy at The Broxbourne School Entrance Exams

TIt was a bustling Saturday at The Broxbourne School as hundreds of Year 6 pupils flocked to take the entrance exam for the September 2025 intake. Parents crowded Badgers Walk, dropping off and anxiously waiting for their children, while some even parked along the road to make it on time. The language exams were held in both morning and afternoon sessions, and students exited with smiles, hopeful for a place at the school. With more forms being added this year, families are optimistic about securing spots for the upcoming intake. We wish all the kids the best of luck!

Manchester United 0 | 3 Tottenham Hotspurs

Tottenham delivered a stunning performance, defeating 10-man Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford, increasing pressure on United manager Erik ten Hag. Spurs dominated from the start, with Brennan Johnson scoring in the 3rd minute and Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke adding goals later. United’s struggles worsened when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off before halftime. Despite their numerical disadvantage, United was already overwhelmed by Spurs' relentless attack. The victory highlighted Tottenham’s attacking prowess and left United fans leaving the stadium early.

BBC Sport

Social media exploded after Manchester United’s defeat, with many fans calling for Erik ten Hag to step down. One viral moment showed photos of Manchester United fans allegedly being held back from leaving the stadium, as most of the United fans were leaving before time. While it’s unclear if the images were real, it certainly added to the narrative, giving social media users plenty to laugh about amidst the frustration. The early exit of fans, however, is a strong statement on how the supporters feel about the team’s current situation.

Arsenal 4 | 2 Leicester City

Arsenal secured a thrilling win over Leicester with two stoppage-time goals at the Emirates. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard gave the Gunners a 2-0 lead at halftime, but Leicester fought back to level through James Justin's double. In the final minutes, a deflected Trossard effort and a Kai Havertz strike secured a 4-2 victory. Arsenal remain just one point behind leaders Liverpool, and level with Manchester City, who drew with Newcastle earlier in the day.

A Chance Encounter on the 08:15 Train: A Love Story Waiting to Happen

It was just another casual Friday morning. I wasn’t expecting anything exciting as I scrolled through Instagram on the 08:15 train from Cheshunt to Liverpool Street. But then, at Turkey Street station, he rushed in, catching the train just in time. His smile—relieved yet warm—met mine, and suddenly the world felt different.

He was average height, with a neat beard, blue jeans, and a rock sack slung over his shoulder. He looked at me again, and for a fleeting moment, I felt something—a connection, maybe even attraction. But his phone rang, breaking the moment. I wished I could reach over and hang up for him, but instead, I sat there pretending to scroll my phone, secretly hoping he’d wrap up quickly.

The train got busier as we neared Liverpool Street, and he got lost in the crowd. I never got his name or said a word, but the memory of his smile stayed with me. Who knows—maybe he felt it too? If you’re out there and reading this, I’d love to reconnect. Reach out to Broxtown and let’s see if fate has another train ride for us. Of course, I’ll ask some questions to make sure it’s you! 😉I was the lady with a sky blue Barclays brolly.
