Can Broxbourne’s Council Office Earn £250,000 Free Money on Filming?

Hertfordshire County Council recently made headlines after earning £250,000 by opening up County Hall in Hertford as a filming location for TV

Happy Friday, Broxbourne! ☀️

It’s official—Broxbourne is once again one of the safest boroughs in Hertfordshire, just behind the outlier district of Three Rivers (we’ll have to ask what their secret is!). The latest Facebook Live from our Police partnership confirmed it: Broxbourne is among the safest places to live in the county.

Half term is here, and Hertfordshire County has pulled out all the stops with their Fifty Thrifty Adventures for families across the county. Meanwhile, as traffic jams grow and our roads fill up, you can’t help but wonder if it’s time for another census—or perhaps time to swap a few more cars for bicycles!

In football news, Tottenham Hotspur finally ended their long wait for silverware, thanks to Brennan Johnson’s heroics in the Europa League final. It’s the kind of victory that sparks questions about the club’s future—will manager Ange Postecoglou stay on? Will Arsenal learn from Spurs? For now, Broxtown celebrates, and we offer a well-earned congratulations to the new European champs.

In today’s edition:

  • Hertfordshire County Hall Office on TV: Is Broxbourne Next?

  • Broxbourne Crime Falls to County Lows

  • MP Lewis Cocking on PM Questions

  • Cows Roaming Hertfordshire Parks

  • And much more…..

And there’s even more inside — so make sure to read through to the end!

Could Broxbourne’s Beaufort Suite Be the Next Filming Hotspot?

Hertfordshire County Council recently made headlines after earning £250,000 by opening up County Hall in Hertford as a filming location for TV and movie productions, including big names like Silo and Grantchester.

With this success, it’s worth asking—could Broxbourne Borough’s own Beaufort Suite at the Churchgate council offices become the next local star? The Beaufort Suite’s historic character and architectural style make it an attractive, unique backdrop for filmmakers.

If promoted, the Beaufort Suite could help bring in extra revenue for local services and put Broxbourne on the map as a film-friendly borough. Would you like to see our council offices on screen? We think it’s time to explore the possibilities!

Broxbourne Crime Falls to County Lows: Police & Council Celebrate, Look Ahead

In the latest Broxbourne Community Safety Partnership Facebook Live session, police confirmed that Broxbourne now has the second lowest crime rate in all of Hertfordshire, just behind Three Rivers. This achievement is a testament to the ongoing hard work of the council, local police, and the community.

The good news continues, with reports that burglaries and carjackings are down across the borough. The partnership credits this progress to close collaboration, regular community engagement, and proactive policing.

However, the police and council aren’t resting on their laurels. They outlined plans to tackle remaining “hot spot” areas, including the use of targeted operations—some of which will remain confidential for effectiveness. They’ll also continue working closely with local shops and business owners to address antisocial behaviour.

For residents concerned about car theft, police recommend investing in smart tags and Faraday bags as affordable ways to add an extra layer of security to your vehicle.

Broxbourne’s low crime figures are something for everyone to be proud of, and thanks go to all residents for playing their part in keeping the borough safe. Stay tuned for more updates and practical advice in future sessions!

Statement from Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking on PM Questions

Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking has taken local concerns about illegal immigration straight to Westminster, raising the issue during Prime Minister’s Questions. He stressed that many Broxbourne residents are worried about the impact of illegal immigration on GP appointments, school places, and access to public services. Cocking pressed the Prime Minister for concrete action to address the problem and stop the exploitation of the immigration system.

The MP has pledged to continue standing up for Broxbourne, advocating for fair access to housing and social services for local families. He also expressed disappointment that the Prime Minister did not give a clear answer to his question, vowing to keep pressing for accountability and solutions.

Spurs End 17-Year Trophy Drought With Europa League Win

Courtesy BBC Sport

Tottenham Hotspur have finally ended their 17-year wait for silverware, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final in Bilbao. The match-winner was Brennan Johnson—his scrappy first-half goal, deflected off Luke Shaw, was enough to secure the trophy and a place in Spurs history.

For Johnson, it was his 20th goal this season and the sweetest yet, while manager Ange Postecoglou delivered on his promise of success in his second year—despite a tough domestic campaign. The win brings huge relief and joy to Spurs fans who have long endured taunts about the club’s trophy record.

Could this historic win be a turning point for Tottenham and North London? Time will tell, but for now, it’s celebration time in Spurs land!
