Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking Steps Up Local Engagement, Champions Business and Community Concerns

Broxbourne MP Lewis Cocking is making a mark with his hands-on approach, dedicating time to meet with local businesses, students, and residents to truly understand their challenges and successes.

From touring innovative companies like VOW Nutrition—whose clients include Team GB athletes—to supporting local enterprises such as Coaching with Charlotte, Mr. Cocking is celebrating community achievements while gaining valuable insight into the issues businesses face, including the burden of rising business rates. He has pledged to take these concerns to Parliament.

Mr. Cocking is also standing up for constituents on everyday issues, voicing frustration over fare dodging on commutes and pressing the Transport Secretary for stronger action to uphold fairness and accountability.

His recent meeting with Business T-Level students at Broxbourne School highlights his commitment to the borough’s future, as he listens to young people and encourages their growth and career readiness.

With consistent and meaningful community engagement, Mr. Cocking is ensuring that Broxbourne’s concerns are represented at Westminster—showing that he’s not only listening but ready to advocate for the needs of local people and businesses.

Hertfordshire County Council Leader Outlines Key Priorities

Cllr Steve Jarvis - Leader of Hertfordshire County Council

New council leader Steve Jarvis has set out Hertfordshire County Council’s top priorities, with a strong focus on supporting vulnerable children, improving roads, and promoting sustainability.

Cllr Jarvis highlighted the urgent need for more foster carers, launching the ‘HELP’ campaign to recruit families for the 1,000 children currently in care. He also committed to better support for children with special educational needs and to trial new, faster pothole repairs across the county.

Sustainability remains a key goal, with further efforts planned to reduce the county’s environmental impact. Jarvis called for cross-party cooperation to deliver on these important initiatives.

Notably, local government devolution was not mentioned among the council’s immediate priorities. With ongoing discussions about potential structural changes in Hertfordshire’s local government, many residents are keen to be involved in any decisions that may affect how their communities are governed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and share their views on any future proposals put forward by the county or district councils.

COMMUNITY UPDATE

Open Air Cinema Shines in Waltham Cross Town Centre

Outdoor Cinema at Waltham Cross

Waltham Cross town centre was buzzing with excitement on Saturday as families gathered for a successful open air cinema screening of Paddington in Peru, Moana 2 and Mufasa. The event, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was quickly and smoothly rescheduled by the council to avoid forecasted rain—a smart move that paid off with perfect weather and a great turnout.

Families enjoyed the movie under the sky, and even the mayor dropped by to see the community spirit in action. Huge congratulations to all the volunteers and council staff whose hard work made the evening possible.

With the Big Green Festival at Cedars Park just around the corner, there’s plenty more to look forward to. See you all there!

MEME of The Day

🐾 PET OF THE WEEK

Name: Penny

You’re looking at Professor Pugsworth, PhD in Advanced Treatology, just moments before his next big lecture: “The Importance of Naps and Snacks in the Modern Dog’s Life.”

With his oversized glasses and that serious knitted scarf, this pug looks like he’s about to grade your essay or offer life advice while sipping a tiny cup of espresso. Is he plotting world domination? Or just thinking about how to ask for more biscuits with dignity? The world may never know, but one thing’s clear—this pup’s style is pawsitively scholarly!

🎨KID’S CORNER

Kid’s name: Kaima 8years Old

School: St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Waltham Cross

Description: Marshmallow feeling the heat and comforted by friends.
