A Love Letter to You 💕
Oh, dearest reader, so loyal, so true,
With every word, my heart speaks to you.
Through sections scrolled and stories told,
You bring warmth that never grows old.
Each morning’s news, each whispered line,
A love unspoken, yet wholly divine.
You read, you stay, you give me time,
A bond so deep, so sweet, so prime.
So on this day of love so bright,
I send my heart in ink and light.
For every glance, for every view,
This newsletter beats because of you. ❤️
Love Letter to our Borough ❤️🌿
Oh, Broxbourne, where rivers flow,
A town of beauty, love, and glow.
Through woodland paths and meadows bright,
You hold my heart both day and night.
The Lea reflects the evening sky,
As gentle breezes wander by.
In Barclay Park, the flowers bloom,
Their scent drifts softly through the gloom.
Your streets, your charm, your history old,
A tale of warmth forever told.
No matter where the world may sway,
Broxbourne, my love, I’m here to stay. ❤️🏡

Broxbourne Council Responds to Government Reform Request

Broxbourne Borough Council Office
In December, the Government released a white paper detailing proposals for local government reforms. While Broxbourne Council does not support the creation of a unitary authority, it remains committed to an evidence-based approach to ensure the best outcomes for residents and businesses.
What’s Happening Now?
The Government has formally asked Broxbourne Council and other Hertfordshire councils to propose changes to the current two-tier system (county and district/borough councils). Broxbourne’s leader recently addressed this in a podcast, highlighting the Council’s focus on protecting local services, ensuring accountability, and delivering real benefits to the community.
What It Means for You:
✅ Public Input – Residents and businesses will have a say in shaping reforms.
✅ Service Changes – Some adjustments to local services may occur, but maintaining quality remains a priority.
✅ Transition Period – There may be uncertainty as plans take shape.
Broxbourne Council is actively working with other councils and the Police and Crime Commissioner to develop well-researched reform proposals, with initial plans due in March and full proposals later this year.
Farewell to Homebase in Waltham Cross

After years of serving our community, the Homebase store in Waltham Cross will close its doors tomorrow. For many of us, it has been a go-to destination for DIY needs, from paints and furniture to plants and Christmas lights. The store has been a staple in our lives, and its absence will surely be felt—especially this summer when we wonder where to fill our BBQ gas cylinders!
While the memories of shopping at Homebase will remain, the big question is: what will replace it? Rumours suggest Aldi may be looking to expand into a superstore on the site, but this has not been confirmed. Other businesses are also likely eyeing the prime location. One thing we know for sure—it won’t be a McDonald’s (or will it?).
As always, we’ll keep our eyes peeled and bring you the latest updates. Stay tuned to find out what’s next for this beloved space in our community. If you have any memories of Homebase you’d like to share, click here and send an email. If I think its cool, I’ll share in the next edition.

FOOTBALL ⚽️
Semi-Automated Offside Technology Debuts in FA Cup

Semi-automated offside technology will be used for the first time in English domestic football during the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Football Association (FA) announced that the system will be implemented in the seven games taking place at Premier League stadiums.
This technology aims to reduce human subjectivity by automating offside decisions. Currently, VAR officials manually assess three key factors: when the ball was played, the position of defenders, and the position of attackers. The new system uses artificial intelligence to monitor ball and player movement, making these decisions automatically.
Bespoke cameras have been installed at all 20 Premier League stadiums to support the technology. If successful, the Premier League plans to adopt the system later this season.
This marks a significant step in modernizing football officiating. ⚽📊
